Bryan Scott Turnmeyer talks education and workforce for Warren County, Virginia.

Education & Workforce Development

Our schools are the foundation and the future of a strong community—and I believe they deserve our full support. As your representative, I will continue to advocate for competitive pay for teachers, ensuring we attract and retain top-tier educators who can prepare our students for a rapidly changing world.

Every student deserves to learn in a strong, safe, and well-supported environment. That means investing in modern facilities, maintaining high standards for safety, and promoting increased parental involvement to strengthen the bond between families and schools.

I also believe in giving our youth multiple pathways to success. Whether through college, trade programs, or skilled apprenticeships, we must continue to expand partnerships with community colleges and vocational training programs to build a thriving local workforce and provide real opportunities for every young person.

Unfortunately, due to limited incoming revenue, our public schools have been forced to do more with less. That’s why I support a diversified economic development strategy, with a strong focus on growing tourism. By increasing visitor spending, we boost lodging, sales, and meals tax revenues, all of which help fill our general fund and directly support capital improvements for our schools.

With responsible oversight and strategic investment, tourism can become a sustainable engine for public school funding—without overburdening our residents. Supporting education isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s the smart thing to do for the future of Warren County.
